As we reported previously, local author Samantha Maxwell held a book launch event recently at the Xplore! Science Discovery Centre in Wrexham. She was promoting her new book, Disabling Ableism, a generalised view of disability through the eyes of society. It features contributions from Lesley Griffiths, MS for Wrexham, and Kerry Evans, Disability Liaison Officer at Wrexham AFC, among many others.

The launch was attended by 60-70 guests, including Lesley Griffiths, MS for Wrexham. Perfect Windows and Property Maintenance kindly sponsored the event and provided refreshments.

Samantha would like to thank every person who attended. She is grateful for the support of her family, her publisher, Xplore for hosting the event, and her sponsor. They all made the event a great success!

Her first book, CP Isn’t Me, is part autobiographical, part factual. It discusses her experiences living with mild Cerebral Palsy and the discrimination she has faced from people in society because of her disability. The book has been endorsed by the likes of Lesley Griffiths, MS for Wrexham, and The Jacksons.

Disabling Ableism and CP Isn’t Me are now available at Waterstones, Wrexham Visitor Information Centre and Bellis Brothers Farm Shop and Garden Centre, alongside many other stockists.
